Primera division under serious threat

The credit crisis has remained as the hot topic for the football world in this summer. Most of the clubs and leagues except some giants like Real Madrid and Manchester City are facing this common problem. There are not enough funds or financial sources to run them properly.

Clubs are becoming more cautious of their debts, they are spending less money. Many gloomy scenarios were seen throughout the year, starting from the emergency cut downs of big teams like Manchester United and Liverpool to the suspension of the Scottish Premier League.

The Argentine Primera Division is the latest example of poor debt management. Most of the Argentine clubs are facing serious economic hardships. As a result, payments of the players are delayed from time to time. The Apertura season was declared to be suspended until this problem gets a workable solution.

One of the major sources of income for the South American teams is the income, which is earned through player transfers to the European clubs. However, as the European clubs are finding themselves cash-strapped, buying those South American players are considered as an unnecessary luxury for them. Third party player ownership and high player salaries are another major causes of this problem.

Racing Club, Independienteand and River Plate are the prominent examples of what such economic starvation can do to a team.
